Fingerprint identification is one of the most known and widespread forms of biometrics. A fingerprint usually appears as a series of black lines representing the skin relief, while the depressions between these lines appear as blank spaces. This type of identification is primarily based upon minutiae, that is, location and direction of bifurcations and line endings.
